Give Yourself a Scalp Massage


Giving my clients a stress-releasing scalp massage is one of my favorite things to share. Have you ever wondered how to give yourself a scalp massage?

Here’s some tips for how to treat yourself to a relaxing scalp massage:

  1. It’s always good to do while you’re shampooing but you can use some scalp oil if you want to start with dry hair.
  2. Begin at the temples. Using the pads—not nails—of your first two or three fingers, move small circles around and around as you continue past the hairline and into the hair. Take a moment to try different pressure and speeds. Take a deep breath and enjoy this.
  3. Remember to spend some time at the base of your neck and linger there before moving your fingers up the back of your head.
  4. At the top of your head, try adding the pressure of your thumb while you continue the massage.
  5. Breathe.
